If you've been around motorcycles or ATVs you've probably heard of Hot
Rods, Pivot Works, Hot Cams Products, Inc. or Cylinder Works. However, it's unlikely that
you know C&L Companies started all three brands and is one of the most
respected aftermarket suppliers in the powersports industry. The strength
and synergy of all four companies has been the motto of all at C&L
Companies in Urbandale, Iowa.

In the early 1990s, motorcycle enthusiast and graduate engineer Curt
Leaverton was searching for replacement connecting rods for his vintage
OSSA motorcycle. The parts, however, were expensive and difficult to
locate as the bike was no longer produced. While on vacation, Curt's wife,
Evelina, introduced him to a parts manufacturer who made OSSA connecting
rods. Curt knew that other OSSA owners experienced the same frustration in
locating the parts as he did, so he purchased an additional 100 connecting
rods. When he got back he made two calls and sold them all. In addition
to rods for vintage bikes, Curt and Evelina were convinced there was a need
for modern motorcycle rods and, in 1993, Hot Rods was born!
The company has since grown from a humble, 10' x 10' room in his parents'
basement, to the world's largest supplier of aftermarket rods. As time
went on, Hot Rods continued to expand its product line by launching the
first complete non-OEM crankshaft kit. These reliable kits have made
replacing worn cranks and rods affordable and convenient.
After discovering that there was a need for complete bearing and seal kits
in a convenient and reasonably priced kit, Curt started Pivot Works in
1999. Since that time, the company has gone on to produce in excess of 630
kits that work over 2,050 applications.
With two successful and growing companies, Curt once again revolutionized
the aftermarket industry by starting another new company, Hot Cams Products, Inc.
The key to Hot Cams Products, Inc. has been to create readily available, billet camshafts
that will work with stock parts and not require a core exchange. The end
result has been cams that not only outperform and outlast traditional
performance camshafts, but do so at a very reasonable price. Hot Cams Products, Inc.
high-performance camshafts remain one of the best mods for the money!
